Casuarina Street Primary School, is nestled in the expanding suburb of Katherine East and supports a student enrolment of approximately 400 students. Due to the ongoing demand for student enrolments, particularly in the early years, Casuarina Street operates under an Enrolment Management Plan. Enrolment management planning is utilised to ensure that students living within the school’s catchment area are able to access their local school.
Enrolment of students from outside the local catchment area will be managed to ensure that the total current and forecast enrolments do not exceed the school’s current built capacity and where applicable will ensure there is an even spread of students across year levels or class groupings. Check the Catchment Area Zoning Map to ensure your residential address is within the Casuarina Street Primary School’s catchment area.
If you reside outside the catchment area you may make a written application to the principal outlining the reasons why you would like your child to attend Casuarina Street Primary School. Your application will be placed on a waiting list and considered in order of receipt. With the exception of new Transition enrolments at the beginning of a school year, a decision regarding applications will be made within two weeks of receipt dependent upon enrolment numbers at that time.
Parents who wish to enrol their child at Casuarina Street Primary School under the Enrolment Management Plan will need to demonstrate that the child to be enrolled resides within the catchment area.
Enrolments will not be approved without enrolment administration staff sighting and copying your child’s original birth certificate and up to date immunisation record. Our administration staff will sight the original, make a copy and return the original to you immediately. If your child will be starting Transition, download the Transition Enrolment or collect a hard copy from our school administration (available from Term 3).
The Department of Education Student Enrolment Form and Supplementary Preschool enrolment form can be accessed from the NT Government Enrol your child at school webpage at https://nt.gov.au/learning/primary-and-secondary-students/enrol-your-child-at-school.
The enrolment package needs to be read, completed in full and presented to the Administration Officer at the School Office between the hours of 8.00 am and 4.00 pm, Monday to Friday or to casuarina.admin@education.nt.gov.au
If you would like to make enquiries to enrol your child at Casuarina Street Primary School, please contact our Administration Officer on (08) 8973 3800 or send an enquiry via email to casuarina.admin@education.nt.gov.au
Since 2016, Casuarina Street Primary School has been an Independent Public School (IPS). Through the IPS initiative, key decision making is moved from the Department of Education to the Principal and there is stronger engagement between our school and the community.
Information about our Board members will outline their experience and passion for our school. We are very excited about the work of the Board as they seek to achieve three key goals:
1) To develop and establish a Strategic Improvement Plan for CSPS for the period of 2018 – 2022 (our current SIP will expire in December this year)
2) A site master plan to develop our grounds and facilities in light of the continued growth we are experiencing
3) To establish processes and protocols that the board will adhere to alongside our revised constitution in the future
There are four sub-committees that report to the Board, with a view to improving the overall effectiveness of CSPS.
Parent and Community – a group who share ideas, questions and feedback about how the work at the school could be improved
Fundraising – create, organise and support opportunities for fundraising activities at CSPS
Infrastructure – supports the development of our ‘Site Master Plan’
Finance – work with our Business Manager to review, inform and guide budget development at CSPS now and into the future.

Casuarina Street Primary School Council supports the Canteen Nutrition and Healthy Eating Policy of our Department and encourages the Canteen to offer a range of items which meet the requirements of a balanced diet. The canteen provides lunch through a classroom ordering system. Parents are asked to clearly write the orders on lunch bags or on an envelope with the child’s name, class, food required and amount of money enclosed. At the start of school, students place their lunch orders in their class lunch crate and Monitors deliver them to the canteen by 08:30 am.
At lunch time, Monitors collect the class crates from the canteen so students can eat in their rooms. Counter sales are available at recess and lunchtime.
A menu and price list is available to parents at the beginning of each semester and is revised regularly. Students can order their lunches in paper lunch bags supplied by parents and taken to the classroom.
MENU CURRENTLY BEING UPDATED!
Orders written on paper lunch bags need to be placed by 8:45am daily. In addition, our canteen has online ordering for lunch orders. Online ordering closes at 8:30am. https://quickcliq.com.au/
